On the Agenda:

1. Bargaining Updates

Both the OPS and OCOT are in contract negotiations now. Join us for an update and a look at upcoming events.

OPS MEMBERS: A strike is imminent. We will have the strike pay/strike duty form and direct deposit form available for you to fill out. They will also be sent via email and will be available on the website when they become available. They are not available yet, but they will be, soon. You MUST fill one out to be entitled to strike pay!!!

2. Motion to Direct Funds to Strike Account

Local 503 has nearly $80,000 in the bank, but the membership must approve use of these funds for strike purposes. With both of our units in bargaining right now, we must collectively decide how much of this money should be spent helping our members on the picket lines, and how it should be spent (cheques? Grocery gift cards? etc.)

Bring your ideas and suggestions to the meeting and together, we'll decide how we'll help each other!

3. Delegate Elections for Regionals 

The Toronto Regional Meeting will be held on Saturday, April 18th in Toronto. At the regional meeting, delegates:

• Elect three OPSEU region 5 executive board members
• Elect representatives to the following equity committees:

• Provincial Women's Committee
• Provincial Young Workers Committee
• Provincial Francophone Committee
• Provincial Human Rights Committee
• Convention committees, NUPGE and CLC

If you wish to stand for election to one of these committees, you MUST be elected as a delegate during our March 5th Local 503 GMM! For more information on OPSEU's equity committees, visit http://opseu.org/information/equity-committees-and-caucuses

4. Delegate and Alternate Elections for Convention

The Annual OPSEU convention is scheduled for May 7th, 8th and 9th in Toronto.

If you wish to stand for election as a delegate to either of the above mentioned meetings, you MUST be at the March 5th Local 503 GMM OR send a proxy letter of acceptance to secretary Laura Thompson ([email protected])

Any member in good standing can stand for election.
